Honestly, among the sites that enforce COPPA, dA is on the low end. The worst you'll really get without the person setting the mature content settings is some swearing.

...To add to the fact that I would always lie about my age before my 13th, including dA.

for me the age doesn't mater, so long as you're willing to risk occasional eye-burns and so forth, and you heed the warnings like maturity filters (unlike some idiots who apparently should be old enough to, but don't) then the benefits greatly outweigh any bad stuff you'll wander upon
