If you\u2019ve been playing Nintendo games for\nany amount of time, you\u2019ll certainly be familiar with the mini games that are\noften placed within as a way to break the games up and to offer something a\nlittle different \u2013 two Nintendo classics have certainly utilised these better\nthan others, with both Pok\u00e9mon and Mario titles of the past including their own\nversion of slots \u2013 the games use the coins earned from the slots to purchase in\ngame items, but given the ongoing issues and pressure facing modern gaming to\nget rid of these features particularly as changing regulation legalising\ngambling like a change for sports betting\nin California<\/a>, could these minigames become a thing of the past with the\nmounting pressure?<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

This is a change that has already been seen\nin some recent games, Super Mario Odyssey for example as rather than a\ntraditional slots style interface and gameplay, you\u2019d choose between a number\nof different moons to collect your prize, it has been the first game in a long\nlist of releases to see a different approach to the way these mini games are\noffered, and if continues will end something that is a fond memory for many who\ngrew up playing these earlier games and took advantage of the mini games as a\nway to find something different in the games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The change comes as there is an ongoing\ncrackdown on exposing underage players to potential addictive gambling\nfeatures, and whilst these mini games are exclusively focussing on in-game\nrewards and often follow the typical Japanese style approach where one building\nis for the game and the building next door is for the prizes, the same example\nof Odyssey did the same to remove this feature and will certainly be the\ngrowing trend moving forward too. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It doesn\u2019t mean there isn\u2019t good news,\nhowever, as there may be new creative\nways to approach these new mini games<\/a> and implement them into the games,\nNintendo does have a history of innovating change rather than removing features\nso even though the older style slots may not remain in place it does allow\nsomething new to come in, perhaps similar to the approach taken by Odyssey or a\ncontinued work in progress to deliver something new, and with the new features\nthat come along it provides an exciting experience for not only new players but\nalso for the experienced players who have a long history with the games too. Many\nwill look back fondly on the time where these mini games offered a period of\nchange in gameplay, but will also look fondly forward to having something new\nto break up that time and something that offers a very new experience in a\ngenre that has been around since gaming first started to emerge.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
