Previously on Super Mario Land...

Mario ventured to Chai Kingdom and battled the evil Biokinton. After Biokinton was destroyed, Tatanga showed up. This was it. If Mario could defeat Tatanga, he would save Princess Daisy and save Sarasaland!

"I will defeat you, Tatanga!" cried Mario in the Sky Pop.

"Oh, I'm not so sure," said Tatanga. "Even is you save Daisy, you've already lost."

Mario fired missiles at Tatanga's ship, but Tatanga fired back at Mario. Tatanga's missiles damaged the Sky Pop.

Mario swerved around Tatanga and fired missiles. Tatanga was distracted by Mario escaping his vision. Tatanga constantly turned around, and Mario fired more missiles at his ship.

Tatanga's ship was being damaged more than the Sky Pop. Tatanga tried to shoot more missiles at Mario, but he soon ran out.

"Oh, no," whispered Tatanga.

Mario kept firing missiles at Tatanga, and Tatanga was defenseless.

"Stop!" cried Tatanga. "Please, stop! I surrender! But we will meet again! I told, even though you have defeated me, you've already lost!"

Tatanga's damaged ship hovered out of sight. Mario exited the Sky Pop and opened the locked door next to him. On the other side was the real Princess Daisy.

"Oh, who are you?" Daisy shouted. "Did you come to save me? Did Princess Toadstool send you?"

"I can answer those questions," said Mario. "1. I am Mario. 2. Yes. 3. Yes!"

"Oh, thank you, Mario!" shouted Daisy. She gave Mario a smooch on the cheek.

Mario flew Daisy back to her palace on the Sky Pop. Sarasaland was safe. But Mario Land, however, was not.

Wario had taken over Mario Land and turned it into Wario Land. In Mario...er...Wario Castle, Wario had someone kept prisoner.

"LET ME GO, YOU NUISANCE!" cried Princess Toadstool. "YOU'RE WORSE THAN BOWSER!"

Wario turned back at Princess Toadstool. "Listen, Peach," said Wario. "I cannot let you go. For I rule this kingdom, now. And without you at the Mushroom Kingdom..."

Wario turned away from Princess Toadstool.

"...Well," he said. "Let's just say Bowser might take over again."

Princess Peach wailed in her cage, the thought of her kingdom being taken over again while she's not there to help her people.
