I'm starting this thread to get dialogue going. I haven't started it yet but I'm working out ideas and plan to very soon. But I think this thread will be nice for me to throw out my ideas for comments and maybe get some of your own ideas and suggestions. After all, we're all the target audience here.

My first idea is the opening of the film. I was thinking of having it where their father is telling them a story one night as kids. Mario, an 11 year old, and Luigi, a 5 year old. It's the story of the Mushroom Kingdom and the attack by the Koopas. I was thinking about it and I've decided to add elements of lore throughout the games into one big blend. For instance, I plan on using the air ships as Koopa's main transportation throughout the worlds. Also, I think Koopa's home world is Dark Land? Am I mistaking that?

It should be noted I'm going to use mostly enemies that had appeared in SMB1. Which is why I've also created a poll concerning other enemies.

Yeah, Darkland is the koopa homeworld, but as I understand it, airships are only for soldiers (many Darkland residents would be conscripted, I presume, which explains why there are so many koopa settlements outside of Bowser's rule).

There are a bunch of other enemies to use, too - for example, the mysterious Shy-Guys which I've always understood to be from a different world, or possibly involved in some kind of cult. I think that the extensions of koopa military from games like SMB3 (fire bros, boomerang bros) are a nice addition when filling in Bowser-y stuff. Koopatrol, as well. Actually, just refer to Paper Mario and its successors if you want inspiration XD

Luigi 6 years behind Mario? Interesting. I could see it working, because it's well-established that Mario acts very much like an older brother... but I've always quite liked them as twins, as canon suggests.

Alright. That makes sense. I may switch the ages to reflect the canon more. And I'll look up some of the other enemies from the games you mentioned.

I kept the ages of the brothers a few years apart. Mostly cause the canon I'm sorta going with kinda has Luigi taller than Mario, and to be honest you can't do that if they're supposed to be twins.

Sounds like an alright decision script-wise Smile

Although I tend to disagree, twins are often very different in physical size because one simply receives more nourishment than the other while in the womb - that's irrelevant, but I thought it was interesting.

Almost? lol. Dear lord!

But yeah. I imagine it's tough trying to hire twins for a movie. It'd be even tougher hiring twins that fit the Mario Bros. descriptions.
